SAN ANTONIO – The dates of services for fallen San Antonio firefighter Scott Deem have been set, the department announced Saturday evening.

Scott Deem, 31, was killed in the Thursday night fire in the 6700 block of Ingram Road.

The Rosary for Deem will take place on Thursday with church services and interment to follow the next day.

The San Antonio Fire Department will release complete details Wednesday at 10 a.m. about visitation, a procession and funeral services.

The San Antonio Fire Department was dispatched at 9:10 p.m. Thursday to the Ingram Square shopping center in the 6700 block of Ingram Road for a structure fire at a strip mall.

Deem's body was recovered from Spartan Gym in the 86,000-square-foot strip mall that was built in 1981.

The chief said when he first listened to the call, the situation "sounded severe," especially when heard a mayday call 20 minutes into the fire.

"To a fire chief who has been in the business a long time, we don't hear a lot of maydays," Hood said.
