Looking for more than love: Con man wanted for targeting Texas women on dating websites

Authorities searching for man who used dating websites to steal money from women

THE COLONY, Texas – A con man accused of stealing money from women he met on dating websites is wanted by North Texas authorities for credit card abuse.

The Colony Police Department is asking the city to be on the lookout for Derek Alldred, who also goes by the names Rich Tailor and Richard Peterson.

"What he likes to do is get on dating websites, meet women and then scam them out of their money," Kyle Koiner, a representative from The Colony Police Department said.

Alldred is also accused of impersonating doctors, lawyers and military service members.

Police said Alldred's act is not unique to Texas — He has been convicted of similar crimes in California, Arizona and Wisconsin.

"He makes a living going around the country and unfortunately, it can't happen here in The Colony, Texas," Koiner said.

The Colony Police Department spread the word about Alldred through a Facebook video that was posted to its page Tuesday.
