2 hospitalized, gunman at large after parking lot shooting on East Side

Victim says he believes he knows where gunman is

SAN ANTONIO – Two people are hospitalized and a gunman is on the run after a shooting in a parking lot on the city’s East Side.

The shooting happened Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Gevers Street and Aransas Avenue.

The crime scene spanned several blocks. Multiple shell casings and a trail of blood could be seen leading all the way down Nopal Street.

When police arrived, witnesses told them someone pulled up to two men in a black Chrysler 300 and started to confront them.

A sergeant at the scene said the instigator went back to his car, got a gun and shot one of the men in the leg and the other in the arm.

The man who was shot in the leg collapsed at the scene, and the man who was shot in the arm ran down the street, past the intersection of Aransas and Nopal, and collapsed.

Police said one of the victims said he knew the suspect and has an idea of where he may be staying. Authorities are confident they will be able to make an arrest in this case.

SAPD said two men were detained as possible witnesses.
