Residents, dogs safely escape house fire in Converse

Fire reported Thursday morning in 6700 block of Campus Meadow Drive

CONVERSE, Texas – A family and their two dogs safely escaped a house fire Thursday morning in Converse.

The fire was reported around 9:30 a.m. in the 6700 block of Campus Meadow Drive.

Bexar County spokeswoman Monica Ramos said it appears the fire started in the garage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it doesn't appear to be suspicious in nature, Ramos said.

Crews remained at the scene to put out hot spots.

Damage was estimated at $110,000.

The Windcrest and Kirby fire departments helped the Converse Fire Department battle the blaze.
