SAPD: Motorcyclist dies after colliding with turning SUV
SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the person killed in the motorcycle accident over the weekend as 35-year-old Kevin Teasdale.
Police say charges are unlikely in a collision that claimed the life of a 35-year-old motorcyclist on Saturday.
Police said the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Northwest Military Highway when he collided with an SUV that was turning on a blinking yellow light.
Authorities said it appears the driver of the SUV didn't see the motorcyclist as they turned in front of the man.
The man on the motorcycle was thrown several feet, hitting several cars before finally landing near H-E-B's Alon Town Center sign.
San Antonio police Sgt. Don Gatten said that while the motorcyclist had the right of way, it appears to have been a tragic accident.
"(The driver) simply just didn't see (the) motorcycle," Gatten said. "That's why we always say 'look twice' for motorcycles."
Police are currently investigating how fast the motorcyclist was going prior to the crash. Gatten said a witness told police the motorcyclist was attempting to pass a car that was turning into the Alon Town Center.
A witness told KSAT he heard the motorcyclist rev his engine moments before the crash.
Authorities found the bike fully engulfed in flames and recovered one of the motorcyclist's boots by bushes approximately 40 feet from the crash site.
Police said the motorcyclist was wearing his helmet.
