SAN ANTONIO – A 44-year-old man is facing a murder charge after he killed his 72-year-old stepfather in an "unprovoked" shooting, police said.
Police spokesman Carlos Ortiz said police were called around 1:20 p.m. to the 4100 block of Willowbrook Drive, where arriving officers found Tomas Cervantes Moreno dead from gunfire. Police found Danny Allen in the backyard of the home and took him, as well as witnesses, into custody for questioning, Ortiz said.
Police said through questioning, they determined that Moreno, Allen's stepfather, was arguing with his significant other when Allen walked into the bedroom where they were arguing and opened fire.
"Danny Allen walked in unprovoked and shot his stepfather," Ortiz said.
Ortiz said that while Allen fired several rounds, it's unclear how many times Moreno was hit by gunfire.
Authorities said that Allen had been living in another part of the country and that it's unclear if he was visiting or living in Texas at the time of the shooting. Ortiz said Allen does not have a criminal record in Texas.
