SAN ANTONIO – An hourlong standoff that began when two men shot at police ended early Saturday morning with 11 people detained and two people charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, police said.
San Antonio police said it started with a shooting in the 6100 block of Lark Valley Drive, just before 3 a.m.
Police said a 26-year-old man was playing video games with his son in the living room of the home when someone shot at the house, striking him in the buttocks.
The man was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.
Witnesses told authorities that someone in an older-model tan vehicle drove by and fired at least 10 shots.
Information from that investigation led police to a home in the 8100 block of Skip Jack. When three officers approached the home, they were met with gunfire from inside, police said.
Police surrounded the home and, after approximately one hour, the standoff ended peacefully, police said.
According to a preliminary report, 11 people were called out of the house and detained, and nine of the 11 people were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Authorities charged Joe Lewis Romero Jr., 19, and Jesus Gomez, 20, with three counts of aggravated assault of a police officer.
Both are behind bars on $60,000 bail each, $20,000 for each count. Gomez was also wanted on a warrant for evading arrest, online records show.
