SAPD: Man killed in rear-end collision Saturday identified

SAN ANTONIO – A 21-year-old man killed in a rear-end collision early Saturday morning has been identified by the Bexar County medical examiner as Dillon Rene Trevino.

Police said the driver of a 2008 GMC truck was traveling down Southwest Military Drive at a high rate of speed around 3 a.m. Saturday when he ignored a red light and slammed into the back of a 2008 Pontiac G6, killing Trevino and injuring two others.

Police say the impact of the crash was so severe that officers found the Pontiac about a quarter of a mile from the crash site.

Trevino was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others who were also in the Pontiac were taken to University Hospital in critical condition, police say. The driver of the GMC truck ran from the scene, leaving his truck behind, but police said when he is located, he will be charged with two counts of failure to render aid causing serious bodily injury and one count of failure to render aid causing death.
