Man shot in head during apparent drug deal, police say

Shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. in 3400 block of East Southcross

SAN ANTONIO – A local man was grazed in the head by a bullet during an apparent drug deal overnight, San Antonio police said Monday.

The shooting was reported just before 1:30 a.m. at the Pecan Valley Golf Club Apartments in the 3400 block of East Southcross, not far from South W.W. White Road on the city's Southeast Side.

According to police, the victim and a group of men were attempting to purchase marijuana when the drug deal took a violent turn. Police said a man fired on the group just before running off.

Authorities said the 24-year-old victim was grazed by a bullet and was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
