'Doggie wheelchair' donated to 2-legged dog

Animal Care Services fits yellow Lab mix with special device

A special "doggie wheelchair" was donated to a two-legged dog at Animal Care Services by an anonymous benefactor, ACS spokeswoman Lisa Norwood said.

The dog, a yellow Lab mix named Angel, was apparently hit by a car last month and lost the use of her back legs.

ACS clinic staff were able to fit her back legs with a frame ending in two all-terrain wheels, which support her hindquarters. Angel still has the use of her front legs.

Norwood said Angel is available for adoption and will be placed with the wheelchair.

Norwood said ACS is always in need of surplus supplies, like linens, heating pads and small pet feeding bottles. Tax deductible donations can be made during regular business hours seven days a week and pickup is available for large scale donations or bulkier items.
