Group hands out free donuts, advocate to save Woolworth building

SAN ANTONIO – Volunteers on Friday passed out free donuts, reminiscent of the pastry made popular by Woolworth's at its lunch counters in the 1960s, when peaceful lunch counter desegregation sit-ins were held.

The event was an opportunity for advocates of saving the building from demolition to air their concerns about the issue.
