BCSO: Chase with deputies ends with suspect crashing into VIA van

The driver of the suspected vehicle was transported to a hospital with a serious leg injury

SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputy was led on a chase that ended with the suspect’s vehicle crashing into a VIA Transit van, officials say.

The pursuit first started on Woodlake Parkway when the driver of the vehicle recklessly passed multiple stop signs without stopping on the city’s Northeast Side, according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office. The chase ended at I-10 and Foster Road, where the suspect’s vehicle collided with a VIA Transit van and a pickup truck.

Two people were involved in the chase, the Sheriff’s Office said, the driver of the suspected vehicle suffered a serious leg injury and was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center. The passenger in the suspect’s vehicle suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The Sheriff’s Office said that the two people in the VIA Transit Van suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the vehicle is facing evading arrest charges, and other charges are pending, the Sheriff’s Office said.
