SAN ANTONIO – Residents tried to fight flames at their Northeast Side home on Friday morning after their neighbors alerted them about a fire in the attic.

San Antonio firefighters said the fire broke out just before 10:30 a.m. in the 12800 block of Tarrytown, not far from Interstate 35 and Judson Road.

Neighbors noticed that flames were coming from the roof and chimney area, SAFD Battalion Chief Jarrett Vocke said. They then told the residents of the home who then tried to extinguish the flames with a garden hose.

Firefighters arrived and were able to fight the flames in the attic from inside the home. No one was injured.

The cause is under investigation, Vocke said. The damage is estimated at $80,000-$100,000.
