Authorities ID driver killed when truck hydroplaned, crashed into pole on Northwest Side

San Antonio police are investigating five crashes that claimed the lives of four people.

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a driver who was killed when his truck hydroplaned and crashed into a pole on Wednesday morning on the Northwest Side.

Angel Ray Reyes, 27, died at the scene of the crash, which happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of Callaghan Road, south of Ingram Road.

A preliminary report from SAPD states that Reyes was driving his truck southbound on Callaghan when he lost control and hydroplaned. The truck went into the northbound lanes and hit a pole.

Police said he suffered head trauma.

A male passenger in the truck was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The crash is under investigation.
