An hours-long standoff with police ended peacefully after a man seen with a rifle prompted the evacuation of a Northwest Side neighborhood Wednesday, police said. The evacuation was precautionary and there was no threat to neighbors, according to San Antonio police spokesperson Officer Cory Schuler. A police helicopter flew overhead and confirmed Bringier was outside with a rifle and reported that he appeared to be agitated. The standoff took place at a home in the French Creek Village subdivision. โ€œItโ€™s always been a quiet neighborhood, one way in, one way out,โ€ Vera said.

San Antonio police have arrested 33-year-old Kevin Lee Perez in connection with a man found shot to death following a car crash on the Northwest Side on Tuesday night. When they arrived, they found a 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his upper body and head injuries from hitting the windshield from the crash. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and has not been identified by police. Initially, police believed the man found dead had attempted to break into the home prior to the shooting and was shot by Perez while he fled. According to the affidavit, Encina showed up to the 51-year-old victim's apartment, looking for a mutual friend. When the victim told Encina the friend wasn't there, Encina refused to leave. The friend reported the incident to police. The victim told police he was afraid of Encina because the latter was known to hang around the apartment complex. The apartment staff told police Encina was a "problematic trespasser who constantly targeted vulnerable older males within their property and forced himself inside their private residences," the affidavit said.

TxDOT to close portions of I-10 this week to install digital message boards

A man fatally shot at a Northwest Side apartment complex has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office. Darren Wynn Baker, 31, was shot multiple times in the torso at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 2100 block of Bandera Road, San Antonio police said. Police said multiple shell casings were found near the scene, and that projectiles hit several parked cars as well as the apartment building. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the 18-year-old woman who died in the crash as as Dominique Orta. Orta was riding in the back seat of a Fort Mustang traveling west on Prue Road around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to San Antonio police. 'It was unbelievable': Local pet owner finds dog with coral snake in mouth again near Leon Valley

For the second time in four months, a local pet owner found her dog playing with a venomous coral snake in her backyard on the Northwest Side near Leon Valley. In July, Gloria St. Mary found her pit bull terrier King Kong playing with an 18-inch coral snake in his mouth. On Monday, St. Mary said she and her husband discovered King Kong playing with a coral snake again. Recently, St. Mary said King Kong has been "looking for something" in their backyard deck more than usual. According to TPWD, the Leon Valley area has a cluster of coral snakes that hide along trails and creeks near Cathedral Rock Park.

Man killed after hitting stopped car on his motorcycle, police say

A 23-year-old man was killed Wednesday night after crashing his motorcycle into the back of a stopped car on a Northwest Side frontage road, according to San Antonio police. Police said Daniel Santiago was riding his 2001 Kawasaki ZX-1000C in the 5200 block of Loop 410 just before 9:30 p.m., when the accident occurred. As he was approaching the Evers Road intersection, police said he didn't see a line of cars just past the steep crest of the hill.

When officers arrived at the complex, they saw a vehicle leaving the location, "calling suspicion to themselves," SAPD said. Just before 2 a.m., San Antonio police said Lamar Calvin White was driving a white SUV near the 8700 block of Cinnamon Creek and was about to make a turn off the roadway when he was struck from behind by another vehicle. His SUV went off the road and hit a fence and a tree before coming to a stop.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man shot and killed at a Northwest Side party Saturday night. Police said 56-year-old Thomas William Kramm was found dead inside an apartment at 4949 Hamilton Wolfe Road just after 8 p.m. The medical examiner said Kramm suffered a gunshot wound to the chest as well as blunt force injuries to the head. Witnesses said Kramm was shot after an argument started at a party, according to police. Police have not released the name or possible charges for a suspect found near the location of the shooting.
