Power line falls on top of West Side home, starting fire

Fire was called in around 4:45 a.m. in 2700 block of El Paso Street

SAN ANTONIO – An electrical fire caused more than $10,000 worth of damage to a West Side home early Monday morning, the San Antonio Fire Department said.

The fire was called in around 4:45 a.m. at a home in the 2700 block of El Paso Street, not far from South Zarzamora Street and Guadalupe Street.

Firefighters said an electrical pole sparked and one of the power lines fell and landed on top of the house, starting the fire.

There was one person inside, but he managed to get safely out, fire officials said.

CPS Energy cut off power to the home as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
