Driver arrested for intoxication assault after crash sends one to hospital, SAPD says

Incident occurred at 4 a.m. on US HWY 281

SAN ANTONIO – A 32-year-old man was arrested for intoxication assault after a crash left one person hospitalized in critical condition, said San Antonio police.

The crash happened at 4 a.m. Saturday near US Highway 281 and I-35, according to SAPD.

Police say the driver of a Nissan Sentra was entering US HWY 281 North from I-35 South and failed to turn the curve properly.

The driver over-corrected across three lanes and crashed into the outside concrete barrier, said SAPD.

A 25-year-old woman, the front seat passenger, was taken to an area hospital with serious bodily injury.

The woman is reported to be in critical condition with internal bleeding, said SAPD.

Following an evaluation, the driver was arrested and booked for intoxication assault.
