SAN ANTONIO – A Judson Independent School District student who is accused of stabbing another student at Metzger Middle School will remain in custody.

The 11-year-old girl, who is accused of stabbing a boy during a scheduled lockdown drill, appeared in court on Thursday morning. The district said the Sept. 30 stabbing led campus administrators to place the school on a hold.

KSAT Investigates has emailed Lexie Greathouse, Judson Independent School District’s director of communications, three times since Wednesday asking for an update on the boy’s condition, but we have not gotten an answer.

During the hearing, prosecutors revealed a Judson ISD campus police officer had to draw his gun on the girl during the incident. Multiple knives were found inside the girl’s backpack, trustee Jose Macias previously told KSAT.

Prosecutors said a student reported the girl last week for having a knife, but campus staff did not find anything.

Her family told Judge William “Cruz” Shaw that the stabbing was a surprise to them, and asked for the girl to be allowed to go home.

Shaw ultimately sided with prosecutors, who asked for the 11-year-old to remain in detention. They argued the girl was not “allowing herself to be adequately supervised,” adding that she could be a danger to herself or others.

“You made a really bad choice, OK?” Shaw told the girl. “And there’s consequences to those choices. You understand that?”

The 11-year-old’s next court hearing is set for Oct. 15.
