160 Texans killed in 2025
Statewide, the Texas Council on Family Violence identified 160 people killed by intimate partners in 2025 — 136 women and 24 men.
That number is only down by one from 2024.
The deaths occurred across 45 Texas counties.
The violence also affected people beyond the immediate victims. The report says five unborn children died as a result of the homicides, while 128 minor children and 95 adult children lost one or both parents.
Fifteen additional friends, family members or bystanders were also killed during the 2025 intimate-partner homicides.
Nine victims were killed in LGBTQIA+ relationships.

Prior violence and criminal justice involvement
The report also examined the history of offenders and whether victims had previously sought help.
Statewide, 32.5% of offenders had a history of violence, while 24.4% had a history of criminal justice intervention.
The report found that 17.5% of victims had sought help from friends, family members, advocates or law enforcement before their deaths.
More than two-thirds of victims — 67.5% — were killed at home, either at their own home or in a home shared with the offender.
The report does not provide a comparable breakdown of those factors specifically for Bexar County, so the statewide findings cannot be directly applied to the 13 Bexar County cases.
Bexar remains near the top of the list
Bexar County’s decline from 17 deaths in 2024 to 13 in 2025 represents a significant year-over-year change, but the county still accounted for about 8% of all intimate-partner homicide deaths identified statewide.
The 2025 report identified 13 victims in Bexar County, including 11 women and two men.
Across Texas, the report identified 160 intimate partner homicide victims in 2025.
The Texas Council on Family Violence has published annual reports on intimate partner homicides since 1998. The project expanded in 2008 and began including male victims in 2019.
The report’s findings document the number and circumstances of intimate-partner homicide deaths, but the data alone does not establish why Bexar County’s total declined in 2025 or whether the change reflects improvements in the county’s response to domestic violence.
