SAN ANTONIO – BCSO arrested a 38-year-old man accused of sexually abusing two girls under the age of 12 for years, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.

The older girl came forward about the sexual abuse to a relative, Salazar said. The girl’s parents told investigators James Mitchelle Reid was a friend of the family and had sexually abused the girl several times for nearly three years, according to BCSO.

The older girl’s mother told BCSO that Reid had given her daughter some gifts and a letter. When the mother opened the letter, she told investigators it read as if Reid was speaking to an adult in a love letter, not a child, Salazar said.v

Child Safe investigators secured an arrest warrant, and Reid was taken into custody Tuesday.

The sheriff said both families trusted Reid with the children, and he had access to them. He faces a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child and one charge of super aggravated sexual assault of a child. Both charges are first-degree felonies.

Reid was handed a $90,000 bond for each charge, according to BCSO.

Salazar is asking the families of other possible victims to call 210-335-6070.
