Woman arrested for assault after hitting burglary suspect with her car in East Side intersection

Man suffered broken leg

SAN ANTONIO – A woman is facing assault charges after she told police she accidentally hit a man with her car that she accused of entering her East Side home without permission, according to San Antonio police.

The 41-year-old woman was booked for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the man she hit suffered a broken leg.

That man was also arrested following the incident.

The ordeal started Tuesday morning when a woman called police to her home in the 4700 block of Dietrich Road just before 7 a.m. She said a man had stolen her keys and she saw on a surveillance camera system that he had entered her home while she was at work.

She told the dispatcher that she was trying to stop the man from leaving the area when she “accidentally” hit him with her car near the intersection of Lula Mae Drive and Colzona Road.

The man, age 27, was taken by EMS to the hospital with an injury to his leg.

Investigators determined he had two active felony warrants. He was booked by proxy for those. He’s also a suspect in the burglary at the woman’s home. The investigation is still active, police said in a preliminary report.

Police have not released either of their names.
