Boy, 14, in custody after shooting 16-year-old girl in Seguin, police say

Incident occurred Saturday around 4 p.m.

SEGUIN, Texas – A 14-year-old boy in custody after he allegedly shot a 16-year-old girl in Seguin, according to the Seguin Police Department.

Officers were called around 4 p.m. Saturday to the 1200 block of West Court Street, not far from Texas Lutheran University, after receiving word of a person wounded.

According to police, officers arrived to find a 16-year-old girl with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head. The girl was airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio, where she’s presently receiving care.

The Seguin Police Department said a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody for the shooting. A motive for the shooting is not currently known. The teen was not identified by police.

The boy will now be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon serious bodily injury family violence, police said.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
