BOERNE, Texas – Friends and family of the 22-year-old Montessori school teacher killed in a car crash held a funeral service on Sunday.
Alexia Rosales died on Dec. 19 after a driver accidentally hit another vehicle in the Excelled Montessori Plus school’s parking lot, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicles rammed through a fence where Rosales and a group of children were in the school’s playground, BCSO Sheriff Javier Salazar said more than an hour after the crash.
Rosales and the children were pinned under one of the vehicles, deputies said.
Five children were injured in the crash. One of them remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Salazar said that the person who caused the crash suffered a medical episode, which led to the tragedy.
The sheriff’s office investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
