SAN ANTONIO – A popular frutería and Mexican restaurant in Southtown is set to close, but a new concept is on the way.
The Frutería-Botanero and Chef Johnny Hernandez announced on Friday they are saying “farewell” to the Southtown restaurant.
“Join us Jan. 3rd and 4th at La Frutería Southtown as we bid farewell to this beloved concept and toast to a new era,” the post stated.
The restaurant will be open Friday and Saturday to celebrate Hernandez and make the last moments “unforgettable,” according to the post.
On Dec. 26, 2024, the restaurant teased on social media that “a new concept” is coming soon. No additional details were provided.
KSAT confirmed The Frutería-Botanero will close this weekend. However, an employee said a new name will take place near the end of January.
