Woman struck, killed by vehicle on Northwest Side, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating after a woman who got out and ran from a car was hit and killed by another vehicle on the Northwest Side.

The incident happened Monday in the 8500 block of Huebner Road around 3:15 p.m.

Michelle Pruitt, 51, was in the passenger seat of a vehicle when she stepped out and ran toward Huebner Road.

Pruitt crossed in an area where there was no crosswalk and was hit by a passing vehicle, according to an SAPD preliminary report.

Pruitt died at the scene, police said. Her cause of death was blunt force injuries, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the vehicle that hit Pruitt stayed at the scene and called 911. They are not expected to face any charges, police said.

It is unknown why Pruitt initially fled from her vehicle.
