SAN ANTONIO – A former manager at a South Side restaurant is facing a first-degree felony charge after investigators say she helped rob the same location where she once worked.
Blanca Velasquez, 43, was arrested last Tuesday and charged with aggravated robbery in connection with an aggravated robbery at Don Pedro’s.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, Sept. 20, SAPD patrol units responded to Don Pedro’s for a robbery in progress. According to an affidavit, two suspects entered the restaurant through a rear service door, held an employee at gunpoint and stole money from the office. Both suspects fled before officers arrived.
Security footage showed one of the suspects had a visible tattoo on the index finger of their right hand, police said.
The restaurant’s owner told investigators the business had recently fired one of its managers, and that manager had a tattoo in the same location that appeared very similar to the one seen on video.
Two days after the robbery, the affidavit said Velasquez was arrested on unrelated warrants.
During the interview, Velasquez confessed to committing the aggravated robbery, according to the affidavit. Investigators said she also provided details about the crime that, in their assessment, only someone with an intimate knowledge of the events would have known.
The affidavit states Velasquez worked with someone else during the robbery and that the victim suffered bodily injury during the incident.
Velasquez faces a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery.
