SAN ANTONIO – The South San Antonio Independent School District said on Wednesday that there will be no program or job cuts for the upcoming year, even after residents turned down a property tax rate increase that would have resulted in additional funding.
About 15 jobs were in line to be cut, but those positions will be filled through attrition, according to the district.

Other notes from the district's meeting:
- The board approved $1,000 in supplemental pay for all 1,400 employees across the district.
- There will be hiring freezes at the discretion of the superintendent, but they will not affect instructional positions.
- The district is still facing a deficit of $2.5 million.
- The district said higher property values and a higher than expected student enrollment number gave it a slight boost in funds.
