1 suspect arrested; 1 at large after separate shootings, SAPD says

1 dead; 1 in critical condition

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating two separate shootings. 

The first shooting happened in the 900 block of Aransas Avenue around 11:20 p.m. Friday. According to police, two men got into an altercation when one of them shot the other in the head.

The victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died. The medical examiner's office identified the man as 37-year-old Stephen Guenther.

Police said the suspect ran from the scene and was later arrested and charged with murder. The suspect's name has not yet been released by authorities.

Another shooting happened around 4:45 a.m. Saturday. According to police, a woman picked up a man at a bar and they drove to a home in the 3100 block of West Commerce Street. 

Police said they were behind the home when an argument broke out, and the man shot the woman in the chest. She was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. Police said the man drove away.
