Padre Island National Seashore asks for volunteers in annual beach cleanup 30 tons of trash was picked up in this year’s event No description found
The Padre Island National Seashore is asking for people to volunteer in its annual Big Shell Beach Cleanup next year.
The event is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, and volunteers are asked to meet at the Malaquite Pavilion.
PINS, which is part of the National Park Service, said the 2022 Billy Sandifer Big Shell Beach Cleanup resulted in the removal of 30 tons of trash. About 500 volunteers picked up waste along 25 miles of the seashore in that event.
People who want to take part in next year’s cleanup will have their entrance fees waived and get a free T-shirt, while supplies last.
PINS is also asking for people to bring four-wheel drive vehicles and trailers.
