SAN ANTONIO – Burgerteca is the newest restaurant concept created by culinary innovator chef Johnny Hernandez.
The restaurant puts a spin on traditional burgers by incorporating rich Hispanic flavors into the recipes and preparations.
"Burgers, rum and ice cream. What else is left?" said chef Hernandez.
All of the burgers are assembled on house-made buns; something that chef Hernandez knew was important when he was creating the burger joint.
"We bake our bread every morning. It's a yeast bread, it's soft and it has texture," said chef Hernandez.
The restaurant features six signature burgers including the mole burger, the al pastor burger, and for seafood fans, the Pacifica tuna burger.
The mole negro sauce, black beans, cheese and pickled onions are all influenced by the Oaxaca-style preparation of these items.
The al pastor burger has a bright citrus bite from the grilled pineapple slices and crunchy texture from the sliced cabbage and fresh cilantro.
The tuna burger is perfect if you’re looking for a seafood option with a Hispanic twist. The tuna is lightly seared and coated in a spicy sauce.
Burgerteca also serves tasty cocktails like their mangonada and big tex punch that help wash down all of those tasty burgers.
If you have a sweet tooth, Burgerteca has tasty ice cream desserts with fun twists like their ice cream nachos made with bunuelos.
Burgerteca is officially open and ready to serve delicious food, drinks, and treats to everyone in San Antonio.
