WEATHER ALERT

A special weather statement in effect for 25 regions in the area

ANTOINE WINFIELD

Brady throws last-minute TD pass, Bucs beat Rams 16-13

Tom Brady tossed a 1-yard touchdown pass to rookie Cade Otton with 9 seconds remaining, giving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a 16-13 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in a sloppy matchup of the past two Super Bowl champions.

Reunited with Tom Brady, Logan Ryan has clear goal in Tampa

Logan Ryan won a pair of Super Bowls in New England playing with Tom Brady, picked off his final pass with the Patriots for a touchdown and has reunited with him in Tampa Bay.

Herbert, Crosby send AFC to 41-35 win in Pro Bowlโ€™s return

The Chargersโ€™ Justin Herbert hit Baltimoreโ€™s Mark Andrews with two touchdown passes to leading the AFC to a 41-35 victory over the NFC in the return of the Pro Bowl.

Fournette has 4 TDs to fuel Bucs' 2nd-half rally at Indy

Leonard Fournette capped a four-touchdown game with a 28-yard scoring run with 20 seconds left to give Tampa Bay a 38-31 come-from-behind victory at Indianapolis.

Super Bowl champ Bucs focused on building depth in NFL draft

Jason Licht is enjoying the perks that come with being the general manager of a reigning Super Bowl champion.

Buccaneers batter Mahomes in 31-9 Super Bowl rout of Chiefs

The Buccaneers didn't even give him time to skim their defense in the Super Bowl. He was 26 of 49 for 270 yards and two interceptions in a 31-9 blowout that denied the Chiefs back-to-back titles. โ€œThey had a good game plan,โ€ said Mahomes, whose quarterback rating of 52.3 was by far the worst of his career. The first-half numbers were striking: Mahomes was 9 of 19 for 67 yards, while Tampa Bay counterpart Tom Brady had dominated the Chiefs defense for 140 yards passing and three TDs in staking the Buccaneers to a 21-6 lead. โ€œTo the last snap,โ€ Reid said, โ€œhe was trying to win that football game.โ€It was just that kind of night for Mahomes.

Brady, improved defense keys to Bucs winning Super Bowl

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady during NFL football practice, Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 in Tampa, Fla. The Buccaneers will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 55. (Kyle Zedaker/Tampa Bay Buccaneers via AP)TAMPA, Fla. โ€“ Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wonโ€™t be denied. The 43-year-old six-time Super Bowl champion may no longer be the best quarterback in the NFL, however, heโ€™s shown in his first season with the Bucs that heโ€™s still good enough to lead a team to the NFL title game. You want to make some moves that hopefully get your team into the Super Bowl.

Young Bucs secondary braces for another dose of Tyreek Hill

(AP Photo/Mike Roemer)TAMPA, Fla. โ€“ Like most NFL cornerbacks, Carlton Davis plays with a short-term memory but never forgets a bad performance. The third-year pro and the rest of Tampa Bayโ€™s young secondary was dominated by Tyreek Hill during the regular season and are eager to redeem themselves against the speedy Kansas City Chiefs receiver in the Super Bowl. Hill had 13 receptions for 269 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-24 victory over the Bucs on Nov. 29. โ€œI play defensive back in the NFL, so youโ€™re going to have your share of losses. Iโ€™m going to continue to be a dog and go out there and give it my all,โ€ Davis said.

NFC Matchups: Where else to start but Brady and Rodgers?

But Gronk in particular has always been a big-play guy in big games for Brady, and Green Bay doesn't have linebackers who excel in coverage. Green Bay will do some blitzing, though not as much as Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles figures to do. Unlike Brady, Rodgers can create outside the pocket, and he's especially dangerous when doing so. Veteran placekicker Mason Crosby is solid, making all 16 field goal attempts, but missed four PATs for Green Bay. Tampa Bay's Ryan Succop, now in his 12th pro season, made 28 of 31 field goal tries but missed five extra points.

No preseason, no problem: NFL rookies shine in strange year

Young and Jefferson made the Pro Bowl, and surely more rookies would have joined them as alternates at the leagueโ€™s now-canceled all-star game. โ€œItโ€™s crazy unusual for a rookie, I think, to have the type of leadership that Chase has, genuine leadership,โ€ Washington quarterback Alex Smith said. โ€œI think a lot of young guys, especially high picks, I think you feel pressure to do it some way or somehow. โ€œTalk about a rookie coming in, starting every game and just being focused,โ€ Browns Pro Bowl guard Joel Bitonio said of Wills. โ€œWeโ€™re growing and weโ€™re starting to get a hang of the game,โ€ said Dolphins right tackle Robert Hunt, a second-round pick and one of six Miami rookies starting on offense.
