The actor who breathed life into the iconic role of Darth Vader, David Prowse, died Sunday at the age of 85, his management group confirmed. His management group, Bovington Management, confirmed his death Sunday with the following statement:โProwse with great regret and heart-wrenching sadness for us and millions of fans around the world, to announce that our client DAVE PROWSE M.B.E. The British actor, Prowse who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, has died aged 85 on Saturday, according to an announcement by his agent Sunday Nov. 29, 2020. (AP Photo/Chris Pizzello, FILE)LONDON โ Dave Prowse, the British weightlifter-turned-actor who was the body, though not the voice, of arch-villain Darth Vader in the original โStar Warsโ trilogy, has died. Prowse died Saturday after a short illness, his agent Thomas Bowington said Sunday. Prowse donned Darth Vader's black armor and helmet for โStar Warsโ (1977), โThe Empire Strikes Backโ (1980) and โReturn of the Jedi" (1983). He was a regular at โStar Warsโ fan events but was banned from official conventions by Lucas in 2010 after the pair fell out.
Florida's Mullen's uneven month ends in Darth Vader costume
GAINESVILLE, Fla. โ Florida coach Dan Mullen dressed as Darth Vader was fitting considering his last three weeks. Mullen showed up following a 41-17 victory over Missouri wearing a full โStar Warsโ villain costume, complete with a red lightsaber. Mullenโs month concluded with a lopsided victory that was marred by a benches-clearing melee at halftime. So did Mullen, who started screaming at the officials and in the direction of the opposing sideline. โNever know with Coach Mullen,โ safety Brad Stewart said.
