DYLAN FLORO

MLB tender deadline: Bellinger, Voit among 83 players cut

Cody Bellinger, Brian Anderson and Luke Voit were among 83 players who became free agents when their former teams declined to offer them contracts for next season.

Mattingly wins his last game as Marlins manager, tops Braves

Don Mattingly went out as a winner in his final game as Miamiโ€™s manager when rookie Peyton Burdick homered and drove in four runs to lead the Marlins over the NL East champion Atlanta Braves 12-9.

Escobar rallies Mets past Marlins in 10, back into 1st alone

Eduardo Escobar homered and drove in five late runs โ€” including the game-winning single in the 10th inning โ€” to rally the New York Mets past the Miami Marlins 5-4 and back into sole possession of first place in the NL East.

De La Cruz homers in 10th, Marlins beat Nationals again

Bryan De La Cruz hit a two-run homer off the foul pole in the 10th inning to keep the Miami Marlinsโ€™ domination of the Washington Nationals going with a 3-2 victory.

Chisholm homers off deGrom, says heater on 'lighter side'

Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a stunning homer off an otherwise dominant Jacob deGrom, Trevor Rogers beat the two-time Cy Young Award winner for the second time and the Miami Marlins three-hit the New York Mets 3-0.

Parade of pitchers not a merry-go-round for Dodgers

(AP Photo/Eric Gay)ARLINGTON, Texas โ€“ More was not merrier for Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers. By the end of the Dodgersโ€™ 6-4 defeat Wednesday night, which evened the Series at one game apiece, it appeared the Dodgers are down to essentially a two-man rotation of Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw. Alex Wood (six outs) and Jake McGee (three) finished with shutout relief, but the damage yielded by the earlier parade of pitchers was too much to overcome. Gonsolin has a 9.82 postseason ERA, allowing eight runs in 7 1/3 innings, and May a 5.00 ERA, giving up five runs in nine innings. It remains to be seen whether this merry-go-round will be a fun ride for Roberts and the Dodgers.

The Latest: Dodgers pull within 6-4 on Seager homer in 8th

Tampa Bay is looking to even the Fall Classic after Los Angeles won 8-3 in the opener. He and Dylan Floro are the only Los Angeles pitchers who havenโ€™t been charged with at least one run in Game 2. The Los Angeles Dodgers try to take a 2-0 World Series lead against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Los Angeles Dodgers have certainly settled into the new ballpark deep in the heart of Texas. Game 2 of the World Series will be the Dodgersโ€™ 15th game at the $1.2 billion Globe Life Field.

Padres get back Mike Clevinger, Dodgers add pitcher for NLDS

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Dylan Floro works against the Colorado Rockies during the sixth inning of a baseball game Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, in Denver. While Clevinger was among the 15 pitchers on the Padres roster released Tuesday, fellow starter Dinelson Lamet was again left off because of injury. The Dodgers added a pitcher to their roster for the NLDS, where they will have 14 pitchers and 14 position players after carrying only 13 pitchers for the first round series against Milwaukee. Right-handed reliever Dylan Floro (3-0, 2.59 ERA) was the pitcher added for the longer NLDS. The Padres last week became the first team to use eight or more pitchers in three consecutive playoff games.

Kershaw dominates, Bellinger 2 HRs, Dodgers drop Angels 7-4

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw throws against the Los Angeles Angels during the fourth inning of a baseball game, Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, in Anaheim, Calif. (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong)ANAHEIM, Calif. Clayton Kershaw allowed one hit over seven brilliant innings, Cody Bellinger hit a pair of two-run homers and the Los Angeles Dodgers opened the Freeway Series with a 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. Rendon also drew two walks from Kershaw (2-1), but he was the only Angels hitter to reach base against the Dodgers longtime ace. The Dodgers have won seven straight NL West titles, while the Angels have posted four straight losing seasons. Patrick Sandoval (0-2) pitched six-hit ball into the seventh inning for the Angels, but remained winless in 12 career major league starts. Kershaw faced the minimum 12 Angels through four innings, but Rendon led off the fifth with a homer into the short left field porch.
