After months of renovations, a new, wildlife-themed Starbucks will open at 3910 N. St. Mary's on Monday, March 2.The building, which previously housed the Train Caf near the entrance of the San Antonio Zoo, has been transformed into a full-service shop that will serve both visitors and the public.Starbucks will celebrate the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony starting at 10 a.m., providing free, reusable zoo mugs to the first 100 guests. 100-foot scaffolding collapses in downtown San Antonio; high winds blamed
SAN ANTONIO - High winds are blamed for a scaffolding collapse Thursday night in downtown San Antonio that damaged a church and crushed numerous cars. San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood said the winds from a storm that roared through the city around 9:30 p.m. toppled a 100-foot section of scaffolding onto the 300 block of Martin Street. Crews are still working Friday morning to remove the scaffolding from the street. Suspected drunk driver arrested after crashing into light pole
SAN ANTONIO - A suspected drunk driver was arrested after San Antonio police say he crashed into a light pole just north of downtown near the St. Mary's strip. The driver's passenger, a man believed to be in his 20s, was taken to University Hospital by emergency medical services in stable condition, according to the San Antonio Police Department. Police have not yet released the passenger or the driver's identities. Around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, San Antonio police said the driver, who was in a pickup truck, was traveling on East French Place when he rammed into a light pole near North St. Mary's Street. The driver, who is also believed to be in his 20s, was found to be intoxicated and faces charges, according to SAPD.
