The Academy Awards in 2020 reached a record low 23.6 million viewers, and that was also pre-lockdown. ABC had 3.9 million, NBC had 3.4 million, Fox had 2.3 million, Univision had 1.4 million, Ion Television had 1.2 million and Telemundo had 1 million. AdFox News Channel topped the cable networks, averaging 2.46 million viewers in prime time. ABC's โWorld News Tonight" won the evening news ratings race, averaging 9.5 million viewers last week.

Sidelined 'Mean Girls' musical won't reopen on Broadway

Fey asks to pull '30 Rock' episodes that featured blackface
NEW YORK At the request of co-creator Tina Fey, four episodes of the comedy 30 Rock are being removed from circulation because they featured characters performing in blackface. The series aired on NBC from 2006 to 2013, but episodes are still being shown in television syndication and on streaming services including Hulu, Amazon Prime, iTunes and Peacock. Two of the four eliminated 30 Rock episodes originally aired in 2010, with the others first shown in 2008 and 2010. They include the East Coast version of an episode first shown live. Fallon, who did not appear in such makeup on 30 Rock, apologized last month after online circulation of an earlier Saturday Night Live skit where he wore blackface to impersonate Chris Rock.

LOS ANGELES The Golden Globes is refusing to let the pandemic get in the way of its party. The ceremony will be held Feb. 28, 2021, in Beverly Hills with previously announced hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said Monday. The date, as with that of other awards, had been delayed amid the coronavirus disruption. But with the Academy Awards having staked out April 25 last week, the Globes jumped on the February date the Oscars had previously held. The Golden Globes, set in a hotel ballroom that's arranged more like an oversized dinner party with drinks than a formal ceremony, positions itself as the freewheeling start to awards season.
'30 Rock' cast reuniting to tout new NBC, cable schedules

Alec Baldwin almost reprised his iconic "30 Rock" role of Jack Donaghey for a new TV show where Jack leaves the corporate world to become the mayor of New York City, but he ended up backing out before the idea became an actual show. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Tina Fey was in talks with Baldwin to work on a "30 Rock" spinoff that featured Donaghey's new life as mayor of NYC. After Baldwin backed out (and crushed the dreams of "30 Rock" fans everywhere), Fey retooled the script, alongside frequent collaborator Robert Carlock, for Ted Danson. The result is a similar show that takes place in Los Angeles instead of New York City, and has no connection to "30 Rock." Danson will play a wealthy businessman who runs for mayor of Los Angeles "for all the wrong reasons."
