Two months after the Hill Country floods, two pieces of state legislation outlining new safety requirements for summer camps is headed to Governor Greg Abbott’s desk for his signature

Communication breakdowns among first responders during the July 4 floods in the Texas Hill Country exposed a critical problem: incompatible and outdated radio systems.

The joint committee of state legislators assembled by Gov. Greg Abbott to address the flooding in the Hill Country and Central Texas is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, as part of the special session.

Among the most competitive races on the Bexar County ballot for Texas House include District 118, which features Republican incumbent John Lujan and Democrat Kristian Carranza. The other Texas House race that’s expected to be competitive is District 121 between Marc LaHood and Laurel Jordan Swift.
