Former SAISD cop hired to protect kids accused of waving a gun at friends

A former SAISD police officer — hired to keep students safe — is now facing criminal charges himself. 23-year-old Matthew Sanchez was arrested after a wild night out last November where he allegedly got kicked out of a nightclub for being too drunk, then pulled a gun from his glove box and waved it out his car window — even pointing it at a friend. Police say cocaine was also involved. KSAT's Katrina Webber dug into this one — and what makes it even more alarming is that sources told police Sanchez had been acting erratically ever since that night, including while working around children. SAISD confirmed he's no longer employed there but won't say when or how he left — or what happens to the other officer who was with him that night.
