Plate reading cameras installed in Leon Valley

Leon Valley police are now using license plate reading cameras to help make up for an officer shortage, with six already up around the city and plans for as many as 13. The chief says the locations weren't random: they picked spots where crime is actually happening. And unlike some agencies, his officers can't just go fishing. They need a case number and a specific vehicle before they can search, and the data gets deleted after seven days unless there's an active investigation. KSAT's Patty Santos talks with Chief David Gonzalez about the latest development.
