San Antonio's top Google searches for 2016

Olympic Games, Pokemon Go, had huge search numbers

SAN ANTONIO – Google has released its top searches for 2016 and in true South Texas fashion the Alamo City has its own unique taste and questions.

The number one top trending search for 2016 in San Antonio was the Rio Olympic Games. The Olympics were also the top trending news or event for 2016, followed in both categories by Pokemon Go -- the phone app that swept the nation this summer.

Back in 2015 the top trending search was former NBA player Lamar Odom, followed by the film "Straight out of Compton", and then mixed-martial artist Ronda Rousey. The top news or event in 2015 was the Special Olympics World Games, followed by Mexican drug lord El Chapo.

The most asked about movie for 2016 was "Sausage Party" the raunchy animated film that was not meant for children, followed by "The Conjuring 2", a horror flick about two paranormal investigators who head to North London to help a mother whose daughter shows signs of demonic possession. "Straight out of Compton" and "Jurassic World" were the top trending films in 2015.

Top trending people in San Antonio this year were Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, followed by sprinter Usain Bolt and NFL defensive player Joey Bosa. In 2015 Lamar Odom, Ronda Rousey and Bobbi Kristina Brown were the top three.

The top trending thing in San Antonio searched "near me" for 2016 were juice bars and voting polls nearby.
