Where are 'Cosby Show' kids today?

Catch up with Huxtable children 20 years later

"The Cosby Show" delighted and entertained TV viewers for a record eight seasons as audiences flocked to this addictive family story every week. It was the longest running and one of the most successful sitcoms of the 1980s.

People couldn't wait to tune in to see this wholesome, middle-class tale of a happy, American family bonded by decency, culture, '80s fashion and, of course, humor.

The parents, Clair and Heathcliff Huxtable (Phylicia Rashad and Bill Cosby), a doctor and a lawyer respectively, were the glue of this fantasy family and somehow found the time to make themselves available for their perfectly well-adjusted children.

In short, the Huxtables were the ideal family. However, the Huxtables would not even be a household name if it weren't for the five children who rounded out this perfect bunch.

Whatever became of the five kids? We wondered too and couldn't be happier you asked.

Sabrina Le Beauf (Sondra Huxtable)

The now-54-year-old actress Sabrina Le Beauf barely got the role of Sondra Huxtable due to the fact that she was a mere 10 years younger than her TV mom.

The show was originally cast with only four Cosby kids and Sondra was not among them. Her character, though, offered a constant stream of good decisions followed by logic and reason.

It is no wonder that her role in the Huxtable clan later led to a two-episode stint on "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

Le Beauf is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama but that doesn't mean she has limited herself to acting. She has also worked in her own interior design business and calls herself a student of life.

Her most recent roles have been in a project called "The Stalker Within" and the Nick At Nite animated comedy "Fatherhood," based off Bill Cosby's standup act. She's also a frequent leading lady in stage productions by the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C.

Le Beauf is single and currently resides in North Carolina.

Lisa Bonet (Denise Huxtable)

In addition to starring on "Cosby," the now 44-year-old Bonet endured substantial controversy in the late '80s over her appearance in the movie "Angel Heart," which featured explicit sex scenes.

On her 20th birthday, she eloped with singer Lenny Kravitz. They had a lot in common as they both had one Jewish parent and shared a flair for the Bohemian lifestyle.

Although they seemed to be a good fit for awhile, they ended up divorcing in 1993 with one shared kid. Bonet legally changed her name to Lilakoi Moon in the '90s, although she still uses the name Lisa Bonet for showbiz purposes.

Bonet also had a couple of other children (post-Kravitz) with her second husband, actor Jason Momoa, who starred in the 2011 remake of "Conan the Barbarian" and is also known for his "Game of Thrones" role.

Bonet has made sporadic appearances in films such as "Enemy of the State" and "High Fidelity." Her most recent work though, was playing a five-episode stint on the since-canceled TV show "Life on Mars" as Detective Maya Daniels.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner (Theo Huxtable)

Following his role as Theo Huxtable, Malcolm-Jamal Warner appeared in several less popular sitcoms such as "Here and Now," "Malcolm & Eddie" and "Listen Up."

He's also had TV roles in shows such as "Dexter," "Touched By an Angel" and "Sliders" since "The Cosby Show" ended. The now 41-year-old Warner has also released a couple of CDs and seems to find passion and fuel in his musical identity.

Years after easily winning the hearts of the nation in "The Cosby Show," Warner was struck by tragedy. He was left heartbroken in 1998 after the death of his girlfriend, actress Michelle Thomas (from the TV show "Family Matters.") She died of stomach cancer with Warner reportedly at her bedside when she passed away.

Most recently, Warner appeared in the big-screen-flop "Fool's Gold" and the Lifetime TV series "Sherri." He also currently has a recurring role on the sitcom "Community" and stars in the BET sitcom "Reed Between the Lines."

Warner has been linked romantically to actress Regina King and is currently playing house with King and her teenage son.

Tempestt Bledsoe (Vanessa Huxtable)

Tempestt Bledsoe played the tender-hearted, academic over-achiever Vanessa Huxtable on "The Cosby Show." Following Cosby, she briefly hosted "The Tempestt Bledsoe Show" around the time of her graduation from college.

She completed business school but by 2006 was participating in reality TV shows such as "Celebrity Fit Club" and "Fear Factor."

Now 38 years old, Bledsoe has been dating actor Darryl Bell (best known for his work on the "Cosby" spinoff "A Different World") for more than 16 years. The pair never married but recently participated in the reality series: "Househusbands of Hollywood."

Bledsoe's post-"Cosby" credits include guest appearances on "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "The Practice" and "South of Nowhere." In early 2011, she took over as host for the Style Network's "Clean House," replacing long-time host Niecy Nash.

Bledsoe has reportedly been struggling for decades with a skin condition called vitiligo, which chronically causes de-pigmentation of certain patches of skin.

Keshia Knight Pulliam (Rudy Huxtable)

Keshia Knight Pulliam was trying to shed her baby-girl image when she posed for a risqué magazine shoot in 2004. This was a far cry from portraying America's baby of the family: Rudy Huxtable.

The now 33-year-old actress has come under more recent scrutiny as well, for her decisions to portray a prostitute in Tyler Perry's "Madea Goes to Jail" and also to star in a Chingy video wearing just a bra.

She hasn't always been sporting the good-girl-goes-wild image though. She received a bachelor's degree in sociology and a few years later participated in and won some reality shows -- good clean fun for this former child star.

In 2008, she joined the cast of Tyler Perry's "House of Payne," which earned her the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series three years in a row between 2008 and 2010. She is still with the series and currently resides in Atlanta.

So if you ever wished you were part of the perfect American family such as the Huxtables, do not lose heart for no such ideal exists -- and the lives of the real Huxtable kids is proof of just that. With all their imperfections though, they will always be America's kids.
