Pizza joint opens door to fantasy football leagues, football fans

Flavor Favs: Pizza Italia

SAN ANTONIO – It's football season and what better way to enjoy than with some pizza, wings and beer.

Pizza Italia is the place to go for all your game-day needs.

"Everybody likes pizza," owner Terry Basore said.

What started out as a hobby turned into a restaurant that opened in the late '80s.

After a fire destroyed the first location, Basore was able to find another spot nearby at 3023 Thousand Oaks Drive.

"It worked out extremely well," Basore said. "It was a difference from day and night."

The place has become popular for its menu of pizza, wings, sandwiches and pasta dishes.

The place includes over 30 beers on tap and over 300 kinds of bottled beers. The brands available range from local craft beers, IPAs, stouts, and pale ales.

Pizza Italia is also doing something different this football season: opening its doors to fantasy football leagues.

"Football season is a good time of the year," Basore said.

Open seven days a week, Pizza Italia is ready to serve you some great food and will even deliver if you are stuck on the couch watching a game.
