With all the claims of softness and strength when it comes to toilet paper, Consumer Reports decided to put 19 brands, including Charmin, Cottonelle and Quilted Northern, to the test.
The paper's softness, how easily it tears on the perforated lines, how easily the paper rips and how quickly it breaks down in water were checked by the testers.
"A toilet paper that breaks down more quickly or more easily is better for your sewer system or septic system," said Joe Pacella of Consumer Reports.
The only toilet paper brand to score excellent for strength, softness and disintegration was Walmart's White Cloud, with Charmin's Ultra Strong coming in second.
One brand that claims it's 100 percent tree-free was tested and while it was found to break down very easily, testers said it wasn't very soft.
