Charges filed against suspect in Walmart robbery

Anthony Cameron accused of poking store employee with knife

SAN ANTONIO – Charges have been filed against a man who San Antonio police believe cut a store employee with a knife when he tried to stop him from shoplifting.

A mug shot on file for Anthony Cameron, 24, was taken the day after the Feb. 22 incident.

However, it appears an aggravated robbery charge was filed against him on Wednesday.

Cameron was booked into jail with bond set at $25,000.

An arrest affidavit detailing the case said workers at Walmart in the 8500 block of Jones Maltsberger Road identified Cameron as the man who walked out of the store last month with items he hadn't purchased.

When they tried to stop him, the employees said Cameron pulled out a knife and nicked one man on his side with the weapon.

The suspect then left the store in a white Chevy Avalanche with a woman driver, the affidavit stated.

Police were able to obtain a license plate number from the store's surveillance video.

According to the affidavit, investigators tracked down the owner of the vehicle who told them she had loaned the truck to the woman who was with Cameron while she was at work.

The affidavit did not mention whether the woman who drove the truck faces charges.
