SAN ANTONIO – Police say speed and alcohol apparently are to blame for a crash that killed two people early Sunday morning on westbound Highway 90 between the Military and Loop 410 exits.

The medical examiner identified the victims as Gilbert Pereida, 23, and Sarah Miranda, 24.

Witnesses said Pereida was driving at more than 100 miles per hour when he slammed into the guard rail, skidded more than 60 feet and flipped over into the eastbound lanes.

The vehicle rolled at least three times ejecting Pereida and killing him. Police say Miranda suffered head trauma and died at the scene.
