Safe baby cribs don't have to be pricey

Consumer Reports tests cribs for durability, safety

Every parent wants a safe crib for their baby. So Consumer Reports tested 14 cribs priced between $160 and $800.

Each crib was inspected and measured to be sure it adheres to government guidelines.  They tested the mattress support and the strength of the slats because growing kids can be rough with all that jumping and pulling.

All cribs tested met government standards, but there were some differences in crib durability.

Consumer Reports found two to recommend. They are the Graco Charleston Convertible Crib for $190 and the Delta Venetian Convertible Sleigh 3-in-1 for $160.
