"Fireball" reported over San Antonio

Residents report seeing meteor-like object streaking across sky

Dozens of KSAT-12 viewers reported seeing what appeared to be a meteor streaking across the San Antonio skyline shortly before noon on Monday.

Jesse Espitia said he saw the object as he was driving south on I-37, just after the Hot Wells Bridge.

"It looked like a black ball and it had this really long tail of fire. And it only lasted about three seconds," Espitia said.

The American Meteor Society's website made no mention of the fireball, but a blog site called Lunar Meteorite Hunters reported several sightings, and had comments from witnesses from Flooresville, Llano and San Antonio.
