SAN ANTONIO – An 79-year-old San Antonio man has been missing for more than a week after failing to arrive by train in Chicago as scheduled.
Family members said Andrew Haukereid left San Antonio at 7 a.m. on May 19 on an Amtrak train bound for Chicago, but although his luggage made it to its final destination, Haukereid did not.
"We're extremely concerned. Grief stricken," said Haukereid's son, Greg.
Greg Haukereid said he and his brother have tried to retrace their father's journey, and have determined he disappeared somewhere between Little Rock, Arkansas and St. Louis, Missouri.
"Based on the information Amtrak Police have provided and our own research, we determined there's no way he exited the train on his own accord," said Greg Haukereid.
Haukereid said he fears someone may have done something to his father.
Anyone with information about Andrew Haukereid's whereabouts is encouraged to call Amtrak Police at 800-331-0008.
