Traffic stop leads to burglary, drug charges

2 arrested after police find stolen items, marijuana in SUV

SAN ANTONIO – Two men led state troopers on a chase early Wednesday morning and were arrested after marijuana and stolen items were found inside their vehicle, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS officials say around 1 a.m. state troopers tried to pull over an SUV because it did not have a light on the license plate.

The driver refused to pull over and led DPS and San Antonio police on a 15 minute slow-speed chase on the Southwest Side.

Troopers and officers finally boxed in the SUV at Priscilla Street and Linden Avenue in front of the suspect's home.

Troopers found marijuana in the vehicle and say the two men inside were both under the influence of the drug.

During the investigation, SAPD responded to a house burglary that was reported a few hours earlier in the 200 block of Adelphia.

A burglar stole three TVs, two laptops and jewelry from the home. Police said those stolen items were in the suspect's SUV.

Police said both men face several charges including burglary, evading arrest and possession of illegal drugs. Their names have not been released.
