SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man who allegedly tried to throw his estranged wife from a bridge into the Medina River 40 feet below.
They arrested Guadalupe Moreno, 43, on Tuesday on a charge of aggravated kidnapping. The incident was reported on Sunday.
Moreno's estranged wife told investigators they have been separated for years, but Moreno has continued to terrorize her, according to an arrest affidavit.
The woman said Moreno ran up to her and her children outside a restaurant and threatened to kill all of them if she didn't go with him, the affidavit stated.
She said Moreno then drove her around, pulling her hair the whole time. She told investigators Moreno finally pulled over in the 14400 of Somerset Road and got out of the car, the affidavit stated.
When she tried to run away, the woman said Moreno caught her and tried to throw her from a bridge, the affidavit stated.
The woman told investigators she fought with Moreno and got free, then flagged down a passing driver for help.
According to the affidavit, the woman told detectives she has filed kidnapping charges against Moreno in the past.
