KSAT12 remembers longtime news director

Jim Boyle led San Antonio news team for 29 years

KSAT12 is mourning the loss of longtime news director Jim Boyle, who passed away Saturday morning following a six-month battle with cancer. Jim was 66.

Jim started at KSAT12 in April 1984. His 29 years at the station was the longest tenure of any news director.

Jim loved and respected the news, especially TV news. He led his newsroom through huge events, personal and professional triumphs and four Spurs championships.

Jim was deeply rooted in and loved San Antonio.

He and his family would host an annual Christmas party. This past Christmas, with Jim bedridden, numerous members of the news department and their loved ones brought the party to him by singing him Christmas carols.

Jim's wife, his two daughters and grandchildren never failed to bring a smile to his face.

We at KSAT12 would like to think Jim's biggest legacy is what you see on our newscasts every day. Many of us still find ourselves asking, "What Would Jim Do?"
